Modaliby is one feature that comprises the predication of a sentence. This thesis first introdues present achievemenits of the research on the modality of Chinese and Russian. Then it contrasts the different definition and ways of expression of modality in the two languages. At last, it expresses the author's view about some controvertial questions in the field.
