The Change in NATO in Light of the Prague Summit

北约在布拉格举行峰会 ,定位该组织在新时期的性质 ,并为其未来发展勾画蓝图。反恐、“倒萨”、东扩、纳新和销毁大规模杀伤性武器是此次峰会的主题。本文对峰会提出看法 ,结合峰会分析了冷战后北约在性质、组织、职能、目标、对手和战略等方面发生的系列变化 ,分析了北约现存的内外矛盾 ,北约的发展变化对国际安全格局的影响 ,并展望了北约的发展前景。

Looking at the changes and development of NATO in the aftermath of the Prague summit, one finds that the summit redefined the nature of NATO in the new era and proposed its future plans. The main themes of this summit included the fight against terrorism, the war against Iraq, the enlargement of NATO, the admission of new members, and destruction of weapons of mass destruction. The author analyzes the changes in NATO after the end of the Cold War in terms of its nature, organization, functions, aims, rivalries, and strategies. The author then discusses the present internal and external contradictions within NATO, especially with regard to the relationship among NATO members and the relationship between NATO and the United States and between NATO and Russia. The influence of NATO's transition on global security and the prospects for NATO's future development are also discussed.
