Aimdst Three Gorges is Ahvu' s early representative works. By contrasting the weak and strong, the civilized and barbaric, and the author vividly describes the life of a unique group struggling in the lowest level of the society and reveals their philosophy of being robbers and thieves. The novel successfully creates such typical figures as Litter Black Carf, Master Wei and Wild Cat. In the novel, the author not only accurately generalizes the figures' complex character and fate, but also exposes the social root from the angle of personality and therefore shows the author's understanding and mastering of the times.
