近代伊始,西方教会势力在中国所兴办的女子教育,首开中国女子学校教育的先河。它倡导 天赋人权和男女平等观念,培养了第一代新式知识女性和妇女运动骨干,推动了中国女界的觉醒和社会风气 的转变,因而在妇女解放史上具有划时代的历史意义。

In modem China, women' s school education started with the education established by western missionaries. The missionary education for women proposed personal rights, the idea of women' s equality to men, they produced a new-fashioned women intellectuals of different specialities and pioneers of women movement. They were a vital force to awaken Chinese women and transform the old social fashion, so they are of epoch-making historical significance in the history of woman liberation.
