A Journey of the Souls Surviving Miseries and Solitaries——A Comparison between Kate Chopin's "The Awakening" and Zhang Jie's Novellas

Through the analysis of and comparison between the major characters in Chopin's 'The Awakening' and those in Zhang Jie's novellas 'Love Must Not Be Forgotten','Emerald' and 'The Ark', the purpose of this paper is to establish some common ground concening women's self consciousness, esplore some similarities between the works of Chopin and Zhang Jie based upon common themes, common images and possibly common sources, and discuss the reasons why there exist such similarities.
