任何一个社会都要实行社会控制。社会控制是指通过社会力量使人们遵守社会规范,维护社会秩序的过程。社会控制的目的决定社会控制的手段是多样的,离轨行为的多样性决定社会控制的手段是多样的,各种社会控制方法的作用不同决定社会控制的手段是多样的。法律、道德、舆论、纪律、习俗和宗教是社会控制的主要手段,它们在社会控制中的地位、作用和范畴不同,只有综合使用这些手段,才能达到社会控制的目的,实行社会稳定。

Any society has its social control. The social control is the process in which persons are made to abide by social norms and preserve social order. The purpose of social control, the diversity of aberrance and the effect of any kind of control means decide that the means of social control is varied. Law, morality, public opinion, discipline, custom and religion are the major means of social control. Their position, effect and category are different in the social control, therefore all the means ought to be used synthetically in order to attain the goal of social stability.
