Six Examples of Investigating Names in Tang Dynasty Epitaphs

唐墓志材料多、真实性强,有很多关于家谍的信息,是研究唐代谱牒世系的宝贵材料,将其与史书结合,二者可相互印证,相互补充。笔者近来研读《全唐文补遗》第三辑、第六辑、第九辑,并核以原拓及史书,偶见其中个别人名及其相关信息可与唐史印证。史书可补墓志之阙;志文可补史书之漏、改史书之误。文章拟以其中个别人名为例进行考辨,以期裨益於碑刻文献之整理与研究。

T ang Dynasty epitaphs have an advantage on number, and the content covers the field of lineage, so they are important to recognize the genealogy of Tang dynasty. With the combination of history,they can confirm and complement each other. Recently the author read and checked the Addendum of Quantangwen(the third, sixth and ninth series), then collated it with history and rubbings. The history books can fill the epitaph que; Rubbings can fill history's errors and leakages.This paper researches the documeents of the Tang Dynasty epitaphs and takes the Addendum of Quantangwen as an example,investigate some names in Tang Dynasty epitaphs, wishing that this research will be beneficial to the collation of ancient books.
