摘要
本研究考察英语死亡教育儿童绘本《爸爸会很快回来吗?》中死亡意义的多模态建构。对语料的概念意义实例化分析和叙事分析发现,绘本所建构出对死亡阐释为:1)生物性:不可逆性、原因性、无机能性、普遍性、自然性; 2)文化性; 3)情绪反应性。在概念意义层面,这些死亡意义通过图文实例化,借助不同的图文投入以及耦合中的分歧和聚合得以建构。本研究对中国情境的儿童死亡教育提出了启示。
This paper examines multimodal construction of the meaning of death in an English children’s picture book on death education,Is Daddy Coming Back in a Minute?Instantiation analysis of ideational meaning and narrative analysis revealed that death was interpreted as 1)biology:irreversibility,causality,nonfunctionality,universality and naturality;2)culturality and 3)emotional reactivity.The meaning of death was constructed through visual and verbal instantiation of ideational meaning,through different visual and verbal commitment,and through convergence and divergence in the coupling of words and pictures.This study has implications for children’s death education in the Chinese context.
