黄自是一名学者型作曲家,还是一名颇有建树的音乐教育家。在历史上遭受过不公正的评判,其音乐作品创作题材广,艺术质量高。他的美学思想具有矛盾性,但在主流上仍是唯物的和现实的。正确评价黄自在现代音乐史上的地位,对于推动音乐文化建设具有重要意义。

Huang Zi was a scholarly composer,however,he got many unfair judgment in the history.The materials of his musical works were so extensive,and the quality of his music was so high.Although his thlughts on aesthetics were contradicated,most of his ideas were both materialistic and realistic.So we should set a goos value on Huang Zi's position in history of modern music,and it will be meaningful to spur music construction.
