连词“虽然”在古代汉语中是一个词组,主要的语法功能是充当一个让步从句。在中古汉语时期语法化为一个复音连词,位于从句之首,表达一种容认性的让步关系。

Conjunctive ″Suiran″(虽然) in the ancient Chinese was a phrase,which grammatically functioned as a concessive clause.Located head of the subordinate clause,it grammaticalised into a compound conjunctive in the Middle Ages China,expressing the Rongrenxing(容认性) of concessive relations.
