The paper tries to analyze the text meaning of Shen Cong Wen,s novels about urban life with Freud's theory on dream.His novels about urban life were not meant to create an urban world as great as XiangXi world in his local fictions,nor to express personal dissatisfaction with the society,but to misrepresent his desire——to seek for an ideal life style under the guise of dream.The stubborn and irrationl thinking-pattern in his urban novels was similar with this in dream.It is the main reason that Shen Congwen defamed the people living in the cities in his novls.
