Using Bliss as an example,this paper analyzes the modernity of Katherine Mansfields’s short stories,including developing plotless story,employing technique of stream of consciousness and using symbolism,etc.By applying modernist techniques in short story writing,Mansfield helps shape the modern short story form and contributes to its maturity and popularity in England.
