George Eliot was female novelist with speculative philosophy and artistic appreciation in Victorian Age.In addition to being prolific,she varied her writing styles with the time going,from early romantic writing to later realism with natural and modern elements,from the description of childhood life in the countryside to the depiction of middle-class life and conflicts in the city,and from pure representation of appearance to the portrait of double-character persons.However,the focus and explanation of ethic which was an unchangeable theme in her works was combined with feminine literature to create various female representatives.Her exploration on ethic played an important role in the progress of feminine literature.Her view of female ethic was fatefully advanced,surpassing other cotemporary female novelists.
