Trade negotiations between China and the United States have been bumpy. The impact of increased friction on domestic industries, particularly the technology sector, which is feared by the US, deserves further analysis. The friction between Japan and the United States in the semiconductor field intensified in the 1980 s, and the trade war between Japan and the United States had a short-term impact on the market value and profitability of Japan’s semiconductor industry. However, in the long run, the development of the industry still depends on innovation and increased investment in research and development to keep up with the pace of market upgrading. The trade war is not worth the price of devaluation. China should continue its reform and opening-up. At the same time, the government should do its utmost to stabilize the economic growth rate and give enterprises affected by the trade war enough leeway to cope with trade conflicts.
