Ideological Motivations in Translation

翻译语境中的意识形态分为个人意识形态、群体意识形态、社会主流意识形态,各种形态相互渗透、相互作用共同操纵着翻译。翻译活动的主体是译者,意识形态对翻译的操纵其实是通过对译者的操控来实现的。意识形态通过操控译者在翻译选材,选择翻译策略和方法,选定翻译风格,选择文本微观操作的翻译技巧等方面的翻译抉择,从而产生迥异的翻译结果。意识形态对翻译操纵不是无端产生的,有其心理理据和社会理据。

Translators prove to be the mainstay of translation activities,manipulated by interpenetrating ideologies including individual, collective and social ideologies. And their manipulations of translation are motivated by psychological properties and sociological properties. Translation is manipulated by ideologies in various apects such as text selection, choice of translation strategies or translation methods, adoption of different translation styles, textual renderings, etc. resulting in different judgments in translation process so as to produce different translation products.
