Intercultural Politeness:Reconciling Micro and Macro Perspectives

礼貌一直是语用学的热门话题,而由于理论匮乏和概念不清,跨文化礼貌研究却发展缓慢。本文由跨文化礼貌研究的特性入手,说明其对整合跨文化语用学研究的微观与宏观层面有天然优势,并从本体论和认识论的角度说明跨文化礼貌的理论及研究方法所面临的困境,指出跨文化礼貌研究有助于深入了解语言、交际、文化,对推动跨文化语用学的发展有重要意义。

Politeness has been a focus in pragmatics with a vast amount of research while intercultural politeness is less commonly concerned due to the lack of specific theory of and confusions about basic notions. This paper explains the potential of intercultural politeness research to lend useful insight into the theoretical and methodological debates about the epistemological and ontological status of politeness and culture and thus points out that intercultural politeness may shed light on the fundamental issue of reconciling micro and macro perspectives on language, interaction and culture.
