Scott, a famous American contemporary feminist and historian, emphasizes the social relationship and power to construct the social gender by applying post structuralism to deconstruct the gender essentialism. Combined her theory with J.M. Coetzee's diasporic writing, it analyzes the collective aphasia, patricide Oedipus and resistance to power in Coetzee's works so as to achieve the ultimate goal for subverting men/women binary opposition and deconstructing colonialism andhegemony culture.
