Survey and analysis of library science education and occupational demand in China

A recent survey of Chinese educational institutes,library directors and librarians with library science background shows that library science education in China has developed rapidly with transformation.Professional knowledge in library science is the core competitiveness of library occupations.The strategy of consolidation and expansion is a rational choice for library science reforms in China.At present,core curriculum in library science in China is comprehensive while reforms of teaching contents and methods are of great urgency.Both specialty knowledge and professionalism should be instructed in library science education.Moreover,cooperation and communication between the library science education domain and the practice domain in library work should be strengthened.
