美国社区大学ESL课程体系及对我国高职英语教学的启示

ESL Teaching in American Community Colleges and its Enlightenment to English Teachings in China's Polytechnics

美国社区大学ESL课程承担着为国际学生的转学教育和社区移民的工作生活提供语言培训的职能。ESL课程实行分级制小班教学,学术课程衔接强化课程,融合了人文素质教育,学业评估以过程性评估为主。美国社区大学ESL教育为我国高职英语课程改革提出有益的启示:我国高职英语教学应将分级制与小班教学相结合,开设高级阅读和写作类课程以适应转学教育的需要,重视过程性评估,提升学生的英语综合应用能力。

ESL education in American community colleges provide International students and immigrants with different English curriculum that pave their ways for further studies in universities or help them grasp basic language for daily communication. Based on that American community colleges divide students into small classes and offer them the courses of American culture. The ESL education in U.S. may give some lessons to our English teaching in Polytechnics. The class is required to be small numbered, and then writing and reading courses should be opened. Further, English teachers can score their students depending on their performance in class activities.
