The importance of British and American culture in English teaching

英语国家的文化知识是英语语言的不可缺少组成部分。因为它会直接影响对英语文本的正确理解。然而在中国,受几十年传统教学方法的影响,很少有英语老师可以将语言教学和文化教学结合起来。基于目前中国学生学习英语的现状和已有的英语交际水平,本文简要分析了英美文化教学的重要性并提出了相应的解决策略以提高学生对于英美文化和本族文化差异的敏感性。使学生积累大量英美文化知识,让学生准确使用语言,提高跨文化交际能力。

The culture of English-speaking countries knowledge is an indispensable part of the English language. Because it will directly affect the correct understanding of the English text. In China, however, affected by decades of traditional teaching methods, there are very few English teachers can combine language teaching and culture teaching. Based on the current situation of Chinese students learning English and English communication level, this paper analyzes the importance of British and American culture teaching and puts forward the corresponding solution strategies in order to improve the students for the sensitivity of the differences in British and American culture and native culture. To make the students accumulate a large number of British and American cultural knowledge, let the students use language accurately, improve the ability of cross-cultural communication.
