基于语料库的非英语专业本科生议论文语体意识研究

A corpus-based study on the genre awareness of non-English majored college students in their argumentative writings

本研究以语体为切入点,基于多特征/多维度分析模式,选取了抽象性(名词化)、客观性(无人称、被动式、可能情态动词、there存在式)和逻辑性(连接词),对比LOCNESS语料库,对同一批非英语专业本科生各阶段的限时议论文语料进行分析和讨论。总体上,该批学生的议论文在there存在式和连接词上基本达到本族语者的水平,但名词化,无人称,被动式存在少用现象,可能情态动词存在多用现象,且大部分语体特征的发展呈现较大的波动性,可见该批学生的语体意识薄弱,缺乏系统的语体知识。由此建议系统地培养非英语专业本科生的书面语语体意识,尤其要注意议论文写作的抽象性和客观性。

Based on the Multi-dimensional/Multi-feature mode, the study analyses the abstraction (nominalizations), objectivity (impersonality, passive voice, existential there, possibility modals) and logicality (connectives) in the argumentative writings of the same group of non-English majored college students in three stages. It is found that their register awareness of written English is non-systematic and weak, which is demonstrated in their underuse of nominalization, impersonality and passive voice, overuse of possibility modals, and unsteady development of most of the linguistic features, though there does exist the approximation towards native speakers in the frequency of existential there and connectives. It is suggested that systematic register awareness be established and emphasized among learners.
