英语意义类修辞格“双关”的研究

英语意义类修辞格双关主要可分为两类:(1)同形异义词的词义双关和(2)同音异义词的谐音双关。本文研究并解释了双关的应用,举例说明其在文章标题、广告、文学作品、谜语及言语幽默中的应用,旨在通过典型举例和语句分析说明掌握英语双关修辞,可帮助理解英语中由双关营造出的机智、诙谐、讽刺或言此及彼等语言效果,进一步提升对英语语言及其文化的赏析。

There are two basic kinds of puns:(1) homographic puns and(2) homophonic puns. A homographic pun uses a word in way as to suggest two or more meanings or different associations. A homophonic pun uses two or more words with the same or nearly the same sounds with different meanings. This paper examines and attempts to explain the rhetorical use of English language puns in various situations such as headlines of articles, advertisements, literature,riddles and humor. Grasping of puns can master the use of wit, humor, sarcasm or ambiguous tone, and thus to enhance appreciating English language and culture.
