经教育部、全国少工委同意在一级"教育学"学科下设立"少年儿童组织与思想意识教育"(以下简称少儿专业)二级学科。以少先队辅导员视角来看,这是一个历史性的进步。但是,自从2012年开始招收学科硕士,在学科建设上仍存在很多问题。
