文化视角下《雷雨》中文化词汇的英译

The translation of cultural words in Thunderstorm from the perspective of culture

翻译是一种跨文化活动,其最终目的是通过一种语言传达另一种语言的文化信息。中西思维方式是中西方文化最根本的差异。译者需要首先了解英汉文化差异,对英汉两种文化深入了解,翻译时灵活运用翻译方法有意识地处理文化词汇的翻译,实现英汉文化间沟通交流的目的。本文以曹禺著《雷雨》及王佐良和巴恩斯的英译文本为材料,从文化视角分析其中文化词汇的英译方法。

Translation is a cross-cultural activity. The ultimate goal of translation is to convey cultural information to another language. The most fundamental difference between Chinese and western culture is the different thinking mode. Translators should know the cultural difference and flexibly use translation techniques to cope with the translation of cultural words, in order to realize the cross-cultural communication. From the cultural perspective, this paper analyzes the translation techniques of cultural words in Thunderstorm written by Cao Yu and translated by Wang Zuo-liang and Barnes.
