《台风》中的“他者”形象探究

英国著名作家约瑟夫·康拉德被称为"海洋小说大师"。在他的代表作《台风》中,中国人被严重边缘化,他们无名无貌无语。在台风到临时,中国人所表现出来的无能与野蛮,更是被康拉德描写得淋漓尽致。本文试以萨义德东方主义理论观点,分析《台风》中作为"他者"的华人群像。

British famous writer Joseph Conrad has been considered as The Master of Marine Novels.In his masterpiece Typhoon,the Chinese are always marginalized,and absent in the names,appearances and voice.When facing the typhoon,Conrad paid more attention to incapacity and barbarism of the Chinese.From the perspective of Said's Orientalism,this.paper tries to interpret the Chinese images as the Other.
