Ritual capital: the importance of interactive rituals in relationships

虽然有些学者提出了"互动仪式"这个概念,但是这个概念是如何在中国人的关系实践中表现的,却仍然未被发现。本研究数据来源于在中国的两个城市所做的关于利用关系择校的民族志研究。研究发现,互动仪式在拉关系中的使用是一种回报丰硕的社会投资,它给行动者带来社会资本。本研究结合互动仪式和社会资本两大部分的理论,提出"仪式资本"的新概念,它指的是人们运用互动仪式获得社会资源的能力。

Although some scholars have brought up the concept of 'interaction ritual', how this is related to the practice of guanxi in China remains unknown. Based on two ethnographic studies of school place allocation in two Chinese cities during 2012 and 2013,the research finds that interaction ritual is vital in all forms of la guanxi and that ritual exists at almost every stage of this process. Based on this finding, a new concept called 'ritual capital' is proposed.
