With the development of English education reform, the design of English teaching becomes more and more important. As a purposeful teacher's teaching activities and students' learning activities, teaching needs to be designed based on the known teaching factors. Teaching design can effectively help teachers to implement teaching activities, so that the purpose of teaching is clear, and the teaching focus is outstanding. Based on the background of English teaching design, this paper analyzes the theoretical basis, core connotation and its components, concepts and methods of English teaching design to illustrate the important position and function of instructional design in teaching activities. Teachers also need to understand the English teaching design, innovative methods in teaching design.
