大都会艺术博物馆《桃花源——中国画中的园林花草》一书翻译实践报告

Translation report on "the Peach Garden——garden flowers and plants in Chinese painting" in Metropolitan Museum of Art

近年来随着我国文化软实力的进一步增强,越来越多的海外人士愿意了解中国文化,欣赏中国艺术。国外图书市场已经有不少关于中国画艺术的出版物问世,这类图书常为汉学家所著,专业性较强。翻译这类图书不仅需要对原文语言有较好的理解,还要做好文献查找、中文回译、句式转换等方面的工作。本翻译报告选取纽约大都会艺术博物馆出版的《桃花源--中国画中的园林花草》一书的部分章节作为翻译材料,通过描述翻译工具Wordfast的使用及分析翻译策略,将重点关注翻译中词、句和篇章等方面的问题。笔者相信,这类图书的译介工作可以为国内博物馆藏品的外文译介活动提供一定的参考价值,同时希望它们也能为中文读者提供另一个视角审视国画艺术。

In recent years, with the further enhancement of China's cultural soft power, more and more overseas people are willing to understand Chinese culture and appreciate Chinese art. There have been many publications on Chinese painting art in foreign book market, and these books are often used by sinologist, and they are more professional. Translation of these books requires not only a better understanding of the original language, but also a good job of literature search, Chinese translation and sentence transformation, and so on. This translation report selected sections of 'the Peach Garden——garden flowers and plants in Chinese painting' in Metropolitan Museum of Art as translation materials, describes the translation strategies and analyzes translation tool, Wordfast, focuses on the translation of words, sentences and texts and other aspects of the problem. The author believes that the translation of this book can provide a certain reference value for translation activities of domestic and foreign museum collections, and hope they can also provide another perspective for readers of Chinese painting art Chinese.
