In his masterpiece Invisible Man, Ralph Allison is not confined to the direct description of the tragic experiences of black Americans, but uses a large number of symbolic intentions to reflect racial discrimination in American Society. The Invisible Man in a relatively neutral stance depicted a black youth in American society encounter, nuanced reflect between different races in American society along with attitude through the character symbolism. Compared with the ideology oriented racial protest literature, it pays more attention to the awakening of self-consciousness of American blacks and is more easily accepted by all strata of society. Therefore, it can promote the black American civil rights movement more effectively.
