著名华裔作家谭恩美八年磨一剑,于2013年发表其新作《惊奇山谷》,这部作品与以往的作品相比,既有继承,又有创新。继承之处在于本书的主题仍然与谭恩美之前的创造主题相关。比如身份认同,母女关系,文化冲突等。创新之处在于主题在不断的深入。以往作品的主人公多为华裔女性,而本部作品的主人公为中美混血儿。创造地方也有原来的美国扩大到中国。
