A Study of the Reproduction of Conversational Implicature in the Translation-In Case of Chronicle of a Blood Merchant

本文在合作原则和会话含义理论的指导下,以主要用对话的方式来完成的小说《许三观卖血记》为例,关注会话含义在翻译中的再现,旨在归纳总结人物对话会话含义的翻译技巧与方法。作者通常选择违背合作原则的手段以产生言外之意。而将人物对话中的言外之意再现给目标语读者则是翻译的重点和难点。格莱斯的会话含义理论在正确理解原文和译文的意义方面给予了译者有效的指引。

Under the guidance of the principle of cooperation and the theory of conversational implicature, this paper focuses on the reproduction of conversational implicature in the translation, in case of Chronicle of a Blood Merchant, which is mainly used in the way of dialogue. The aim of this paper is to summarize translation strategies and methods of conversational implicature. The author usually uses the technique of violating communicative norms to produce implicature. To reproduce the implicature of dialogues to the target language readers is the emphases and difficulties of translation. Grice's theory of conversational implicature gives the translator an effective guidance in understanding the meaning of the original text and target text.
