On Translation Theory and Practice in English Translation

当今有许多学者忽视了翻译理论的作用,认为翻译重在实践。本文从三个方面,即翻译理论的定义,翻译理论的作用,翻译理论与实践的关系,阐述了翻译理论的重要性。笔者旨从翻译理论的分类入手,利用纯理论与纯翻译理论的区别与用途,说明了理论与实践并非简单的"指导与被指导的关系"。纠正了"翻译无理论"和"翻译理论无用"之看法。

Nowadays, many scholars have ignored the role of translation theory and think that translation is the emphasis of practice. This paper expounds the importance of translation theory from three aspects: the definition of translation theory, the role of translation theory and the relationship between translation theory and practice. The purpose of this paper is to start with the classification of translation theories, and to explain the difference between theory and practice. It shows that theory and practice are not simply "guided and guided relations", which corrects the view of "no translation theory" and "useless translation theory".
