On the Cultural Rights in Amy Tan's Joy Luck Club from the Perspective of Critical Discourse Analysis

谭恩美是最具代表性的女性华裔作家之一,其代表作《喜福会》通过描写移民到美国的四位母亲的生活经历及母亲与在美国成长的女儿之间因文化背景的差异而产生的矛盾冲突。本文应用批评语言学家费尔克劳夫的话语分析三维模式来解读《喜福会》中存在的文化权利,用客观公正的数据诠释文化权利在新形势下的内涵以及华裔女性在东西方文化交流沟通的过程中所起到的重要作用。

Amy Tan is one of the most representative Chinese-American women writers. The Joy Luck Club describes the conflicts between four pairs of mothers and daughters who share different cultural backgrounds. This article analyzes the cultural power in The Joy Luck Club from the perspective of Fairclough's three-dimensional mode of discourse analysis in order to interpret the new concept of cultural power in the new era and the vital role Chinese-American women play in the communication between eastern and western cultures.
