An Interpretation of Eugene ONeil's Drama “Hairy Ape” from the Perspective of Eco Literature

《毛猿》是美国著名剧作家尤金·奥尼尔创作的一部兼有现实主义、表现主义和象征主义的戏剧作品。本文尝试从生态文学角度来解读《毛猿》作品的主题,深入探析人与自然、社会以及自身情感的深远意义。在该视角下,本文着重阐述《毛猿》中的三大悲剧:自然生态悲剧、社会生态悲剧以及人类的精神悲剧。

'Hairy Ape' is a play by Eugene O’Neill, a famous American playwright, which combines realism, expressionism and symbolism. This paper attempts to interpret the theme of Mao ape’s works from the angle of ecological literature, and to probe into the profound significance of man and nature, society, and his own emotions. From this perspective, this paper focuses on the three tragedies in 'hairy apes' : natural ecological tragedy, social ecological tragedy and human spiritual tragedy.
