Studies on the Custom of Incensing of Mount Wu Dang in the Period of Ming and Qing Dynasties

明清时期由于真武信仰的兴盛,作为真武本山的道教名山武当山也因之被尊崇,吸引了来自全国各地的香客,成为与泰山、普陀山和天竺山齐名的朝香圣地。香火旺盛的武当山,香税收入惊人,全国只有泰山的香钱可与之相比。武当山进香促进区域经济的发展,对区域文化的影响也是明显的。

Being a famous Taoism mountain,Mount Wu Dang was held in esteem for the flourishing of Zhen Wu’s belief in the period of Ming and Qing dynasties.Mount Wu Dang attracted many pilgrims coming from all over the country and became the famous shrine together with Mount Tai,Mount Pu Tuo and Mount Tian Zhu.The incense’s income of Mount Wu Dang was so astonishing and that none but the fragrant’money of Mount Tai can parallel it.The pilgrimage of Mount Wu Dang promoted the development of regional economy and influenced the regional culture obviously.
