奉海(沈海)铁路是奉天省长公署与商民合作投资,由奉海铁路股份有限公司承建和管理的省有铁路。奉海铁路建成前,东北没有一条由中国人利用自己的资金和技术建设、管理,并完全国有的铁路。奉海铁路干支线营业里程总长337.1公里,干线自奉天省城(沈阳)经海龙县至朝阳镇263.5公里;支线自梅河口至西安县城(今辽源)及煤矿73.6公里。1925年7月开工。
The Fenghai(MaojuntunHailong) Railway was built by the Fengtian Warlord using domestic funds from the Fengtian Governor’s Office and local business people. It was built and managed by the Fenghai Railway Co., Ltd. and was the only railway built with the Chinese funds then. Before this, there was no railway of its kind in northeast China. Construction of the 337.1-kmlong railway began in July 1925 and lasted until December 1927. The railway was better than the TaonanAnggangxi Railway and the JilinDunhua Railway in terms of quality and the total amount of investment involved.
