Balancing Risk and Return in China's Revamped Urbanization Drive

新型城镇化是我国经济增长的巨大引擎,其被赋予了多重意义。本文分析了新型城镇化蕴含的多重目标,城镇化与城市化、房地产、金融体系之间的关系,实施新型城镇化的风险和收益,以及政府在城镇化中的角色扮演。实施城镇化需要明辨其中的潜在风险,积极稳妥地推进,不可一蹴而就。

The new-type urbanization is considered as a powerful engine for China's economic growth and thus has been given many meanings. In this paper, we provide an analysis on the objectives of urbanization, its relationship between real estate and financial system, the risk and return associated with it, and the government's role in the process. It is necessary to be able to identify potential risks and carry through urbanization actively yet prudently.
