The road to world economic recovery is uneven and countries are faced with multiple challenges and risks. Continuous efforts in institutional reform and improved national competitiveness are the key to emerging from the shadow of the fnancial crisis. Since the end of World War II, we have seen no shortage of political volatility, while on the economic side, we have seen round after round of competition among the major economic powers. After each new crisis or new technological revolution that challenges the existing order, we have witnessed a boom in emerging economies while some other countries have slid into decline.As we look to the future we need to remember our history.
