Developed countries like the United States and Japan have used foreign direct investment as an important means of capacity transfer and expansion into overseas markets while vigorously engaging in foreign trade. The foreign investment strategies of these two countries have played a significant role in their economic growth. By examining the successful foreign investment policies of the United States and Japan, we can gain some insight into the how best to proceed with our 'One Belt, One Road' strategy.
