本文回顾了1865-1896年美国经济和货币使用的相关背景,总结了其增长型通货紧缩的历程,表明是由创新、人口增长及素质提升、资本积累等原因促进经济腾飞,由此提供了通缩的另一个视角。
This article reviews the economic and monetary conditions in the US between 1865-1896 and the evolution of what has been called 'growth deflation'. An examination of this period reveals that innovation, capital accumulation, population growth and improved professional skills were all powerful factors in stimulating the economy. The author also uses this study to offer a new perspective on deflation.
