What is the development stage for Chinese economy after economic reform and sustained high-speed growth in the 80s? This is an important question that concerns China's reform and development in the 90s. This essay holds that China has entered into the historical process of growing to economic maturity by briefly describing the features of both growth and struetural change of the maturing Chinese economy which are the major indications. It makes an analysis of the major opportunities and challenges Chinese economy is faced with in further development under the circumstances of mature economic coditions, and also lists the key points of basic policies and strategies for structural reform in economic development in the 90s.
