蓝华德的在华医疗传教历程探析

An Analysis of W. R. Lambuth's Progress of Medical MissionaryWork in China

出生在中国上海的美国监理教会传教士蓝华德对中国的传教事业的贡献,特别在医疗传教方面是不容忽视的且蓝华德对促进中国医学教育的发展也可以说是功不可没。本文通过对蓝华德在中国上海、苏州、吉林、北京等地留下的足迹进行实地考察,从而对他在华医疗传教的贡献上做一个综合客观的评价。这对于理解在近代中国社会发展中传教士所发挥的积极作用有着重要意义。

W.R.Lambuth,a China-born American Methodist Bishop,contributed greatly to the development of medical knowledge and education in China through religious proselytizing.In this paper,I will evaluate Lambuth's medical missionary activities,for example,the establishment of medical schools and hospitals in China,by investigating his footprints in Shanghai,Suzhou,Beijing and Jilin.His story exemplifies the significance of understanding the active role of the missionaries in the development of the modern Chinese society.
