To commemorate the fortieth anniversary of China’s reform and opening up, the paper briefs its contemporary significance. Through a comparative analysis of the past forty years’ practice, it draws conclusions that reform and opening is the resource of energy for China’s development and advancement, a key approach to realize the Chinese dream of national rejuvenation, and the only way to hold high the banner of socialism with Chinese characteristics.
