The author discusses the importance to conduct nationality statistical research in China.He raises the definition,task and basic framework of nationality statistical work,as well as the status of nationality statistics in the national statistical system in China.He also indicates the main factors affecting nationality statistical work at present in China and the key things to be reformed,explores the several basic problems regarding establishing national nationality statistics in China.
