摘要
The activities of binary fused salt systems may be directly determined by emf measurement on reversible chemical cells, but it is difficult to employ this method when the electrochemical properties of the components are similar or there are interactions between the metals and their salts. In such case, the thermodynamic properties of binary systems can be calculated from the activities measured in ternary systems according to Darken’s method. However, such a method has not yet been used for fused salt systems. In the present note we have, as a first instance, taken measure of the emf for AgCl-CeCl3-KCl ternary systems with Ag|AgCl reversible electrode and calculated the activities in the CeCl3-KCl binary
