Arteannuin 1 which was shown to be a new sesquiterpenoid containing a peroxide group is an antimalaria active principle isolated from Artemisia annua L. Now we report the synthesis of Arteannuin degradation product, norsesquiterpenoid lactone 10 starting from 10R（+）-citronellal 2 by the reaction sequence as shown in Fig. 1. 2 was submitted to cyelization with zinc bromide to afford the 6R, 7S, 10R（—）isopulegol 3.
