Xylenol orange （XO） reagent has been widely used for the spectrophotometric determination of elements in analytical chemistry. But until recently, the extraction spectrophotometric method of the In-XO complex has not been investigated in detail. In this paper the authors want to report that indium forms a red charged chelate with XO in the buffer solution of potassium biphthalate （pH=2.8） and it is quantitatively extracted from the solution into N-263 solution （w/v=0.044%） in toluene with presence of Na2SO4,
