We collected a sample of massicot in a warm spring sediment in Chongqing, Sichuan, in March 1954. The massicot was botryoidal kidney shaped (reniform), lemon-yellow in colour, with a white film of travertine on the surface. After 23 years, the sample was discovered to have changed into orange red litharge on its outer layer, with the internal massicot core unchanged.
