Ⅰ. INTRODUCTIONCarlson et al. were the first to report on interspecifie plant hybridization by protoplast fusion between Nicotiana glauca and N. longsdorffii. Nargao first obtained somatic hybrids between N. tabacum and N. rustica.In recent years, there have been obtained in China the regenerated plants from the cultured protoplasts of N. tabacum and Petunia hybrida. This paper is the first report on somatic hybrid plants.
