摘要
Ⅰ. INTRODUCTION The hypothesis that there is much gas deep in the earth is an attractive problem. It provides a common basis for explaining a number of otherwise rather puzzling natural processes such as chemical evolution of the crust and upper mantle, degassing of the earth and atmosphere formation and evolution, the phenomena of released gases by earthquake, argon excess in the potassium-argon method and the probability of nonbiological origin methane residing in the deep.
